I fancy myself a kind of jack of all trades, and when I got my degree in theatre it worked out well because it checked a lot of boxes on what mediums I like to use to create things. I can draw in CAD formats to get ideas across and budget time and money, work out details in the infinite computer world and correct problems before they become a headache in the real world. I love CAD and its ability to showcase a design in many different ways, from 2D to renderings to saving a file that can be 3D printed, it adds so much to our lives and I am dedicated to grow with the industry.
I have worked a lot too with the physical creation of things. Mostly working in carpentry and metal fabrication, but I also dabble in some other arts forms like painting and leathercraft. There’s a unique satisfaction in taking raw material and transforming it into a new engaging piece, you have a connection to it that makes it special to you. When I feel the admiration of a client who’s now got the real thing in their hands it gives me the motivation and purpose to keep going and make the next. I worked in the corporate world for a few years and the real problem I had with it was how it forces you to be pigeonholed into one specific task or trade. There are so many ways to express one’s self and I wanted to explore what that truly means for me.
I hope to engage with my local community and the larger community as much as possible and work with people to create things that bring joy, solve problems, and elevate the human spirit.
